This rosé made from a classic blend of Champagne grapes is a beautiful pink colour, and had a delicate stream of steady bubbles. The nose has blackcurrants and raspberries coupled with a hint of fresh biscuitiness. The palate follows a similar vein, with blackcurrants and sweet red berries, from the pinot grapes, balanced gently with an excellent acidity that gives the wine a fresh, youthfulness and an excellent finish.
Furleigh Estate
Owned by Rebecca Hansford and husband Ian Edwards since 2004, Furleigh Estate is very much a family business with Furleigh being Rebecca's childhood home. The family farm was sold by Rebecca's father in the 1990s and then miraculously came up for sale when Rebecca and Ian were looking for a new home for their young family. They were obviously fated to return...
The estate encompasses 80 acres of rolling fields, lakes and woods set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just 5 miles from Dorset's Jurassic Coast in Salway Ash.

After hand picking, the Chardonnay, Pinot noir and Pinot meunier grapes are whole bunch pressed to obtain the finest juice. Tirage takes place after 7 months, then the wine is left to mature on its lees for 15 months, with a further 2 months in the bottle after dosage.
The Furleigh Estate Classic Cuvée 2009 is an elegant and opulent wine. It has a lovely bright appearance with a slight hint of pink and a good mousse. Refreshing, sweetly fruited with notes of strawberry, candied lemon peel, creamy pinot noir and underlying brioche give this wine a hugely inviting and attractive nose. The palate doesn't disappoint. A well balanced and easy going wine, with dimensions of flavours of brioche and red fruit.

Furleigh's Blanc de Noirs 2009 is a lovely example of how the pinot grapes (75% noir, 25% meunier) can be used to produce a light and fruity wine. The appearance is a light bronze with delicate bubbles and the nose offers up aromas of red fruit and citrus. The palate is dry and has a delicate balance of acidity and fruity sweetness, coupled with a gentle touch of biscuitiness.

The Blanc de Blancs has an a clear appearance pale straw in colour, with tiny bubbles forming a creamy mousse. The nose is clean and has noticeable development in the form of slightly toasty sweet brioche. This is supported by a broad palate of flavours that includes ripe apples and an interesting, but not surprising (owing to vicinity to the sea) saltiness. The palate is soft and creamy with a good mousse and mouthfeel, vibrant acidity balanced with sweetness. This wine shows very competent winemaking from healthy fruit from young vines. It is soft, well balanced and very enjoyable!
