What's in the box?
Danebury Vineyards Cossack 2005
This is a delightfully toasty wine made from 95% Auxerrois (a sibling of the Chardonnay grape) and 5% Rülander (aka Pinot gris). The nutty, biscuity nose is followed by a not overly fizzy mousse of delicate bubbles. The palate is fresh and has a good backbone of acid (from the Auxerrois) and a suitable fruity sweetness which rounds the wine off to be ideal to be served with food - cheese and biscuits, for example.
Meonhill Réserve NV
Made from 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot noir, grown on the top of the hill in the South Downs, Meonhill Réserve NV is an opulent golden colour with a good bead and delicate mousse. The nose offers up aromas of red fruit and peach, and delicious tones of yeast, nuttiness, honey and caramel. In the mouth the wine is dry, weighty and has a balanced acidity. It has biscuity flavours, following the obvious autolytic nose, and has an assured length with an almost chalky finish.
English Oak Chinkapin Rosé 2009Crafted from carefully grown Chardonnay (51%), Pinot noir (16%), and Pinot meunier (33%) grapes, this wine is delicate pale pink in colour with a good bead of bubbles. The nose opens up honey, yeast, summer fruits and even hint of orange peel. The palate offers up a lively, refreshing wine with hints of peach and lemon. The tingling acidity leaves the drinker yearning for another sip...
RidgeView Merret Knightsbridge Blanc de Noirs 2009
Knightsbridge Blanc de noirs 2009 is carefully crafted from red grapes (Pinot noir 63%, and Pinot meunier 37%) to produce a straw-coloured sparkling wine that offers red fruit and hints of mandarin on the nose. On the palate the red fruit is present, and is delicately balanced with lightly whipped cream flavours. The long lasting finish is fresh, yet complex.
Strawberry Hill Blanc de Noirs 2008
The Blanc de Noirs from Strawberry Hill has an attractive golden straw colour and has a fine bead of bubbles. The nose shows a sense of maturity with rich, deep melon, citrus and quince fruit aromas, coupled with brazil nuttiness. On the palate, again ageing is evident, with digestive biscuit and creamy texture, good mouthfeel, compact consistent bubbles. Good red fruit and citrus flavours offer a prolonged finish in this well balanced wine. An excellent weighty Blanc de Noirs that would be great served with food.
Plumpton Estate The Dean Blush NV
The Dean Blush made using traditional Champagne techniques has a fresh nose of citrus and red fruit, followed by a fine mousse, and a soft and gentle palate which hints at summer fruits and strawberries. It has biscuity flavours, following the obvious autolytic nose, and has an assured length with an almost chalky finish.
